This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very special because they live in a low income community and that doesn't frustrate their determination to learn. They come each and every day with a positive motivation and always they want to do their tasks, but their family don't have enough income to buy their school supplies. Their parents have only one part-time job or none. When it is snack time, some of them cry because their family sent them without any food and they want to eat.
My beautiful learners are unique because the majority of them are English Language Learners, foster kids, ESE with speech problems and Attention Disorders.
Some of them came from Puerto Rico, after loose everything with Hurricane Maria. They learn based on their interest and learners profile. Based on the research, kids between from birth to eight years learn using concrete materials, and my kids absolutely show progress when they have that kind of materials. They are my inspiration to teach with passion and vocation each and every day!
My Project
My students need to improve in the areas of reading and writing. Their first language is not English. They are behind grade level in these areas and they need concrete and creative materials to learn English in a funny and positive way.
My Kindergartners need to practice how to read and write so they can move to the next grade level.
They will learn beginning, middle, ending sounds with the instant learning centers. We need centers that will help them to recognize letter names, letter sounds, CVC words, and learn new vocabulary words. If they can use these materials, they will show more interest in learning a second language. Also, they can teach their parents new English vocabulary.
My smart kids will learn how to work with blends, diagraphs, cvc words and vowel sounds in easy way if they can have these instant learning centers. That supplies are great for my ESE and English Language Learners because the materials have textures to they can recognize each sounds when they touch a dot that represent a letter. With these awesome materials my learners will learn phonics and phonemes.
They will also learn how to spell and write correctly, using the journals that are appropriate for them.
