Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I went to a workshop the other day and they gave us a few adjectives and we had to think of people that fit that description. They said words like Powerful, Successful, Expert, Genius...unconsciously most of our answers were male. We didn't realize until afterwards during our discussion that we have been really conditioned to believe that these qualities are more achievable for men. I want my young girls to know that they have options. Things do not come easily but the odds can be defied and obstacles can be overcome because there is a long history of women that have done just that. There are several women that have paved the way for them to become successful and to thrive. I want my students to think that they are limitless.
