My students need iPad mini 2's and an iPad Pro with protective cases to help their technological fluency throughout the school day. They will work in partnerships during readers workshop, math centers, art, and non-fiction research.
My students are growing up in a world with increasing ties to technology. They are bright, quick to understand new things, and eager to use these resources for learning opportunities. Students are often engaged in anything involving technology, and having a classroom set of iPads will allow them to further these skills.
It only makes sense to provide them with access to tools that they will use in perfecting their digital literacy, preparing them for college readiness and future careers.
My Project
These classroom iPads will allow students to grow with the 21st century by providing endless opportunities for them to access current technology within our classroom.
Students will use these iPads individually, in partnerships, and for ALL subjects.
They will be able to use reading apps that allow them to read online texts at their independent level, conduct research for non-fiction writing projects, and learn more about topics we're studying, such as crayfish life cycles, moon phases, and Native American history. They can view photos and videos to aid in this research, and listen to audio recordings relevant to each topic. Students will be able to use these iPads to thoroughly understand and grasp different cultures and parts of the world.
They will assist English language learners in learning new language by pairing vocabulary with accurate photos or illustrations. I will also be able to use the 'iPad pro' to assess students on the go during class time. There are plenty of free apps available for student learning, as well as sites aligned to common core standards. Providing students with an engaging learning platform will not only help them directly, it will also allow for better classroom management during small group instruction.
