My Students

My students need the opportunity to see themselves as creators. Creation is a powerful tool that develops and promotes critical thinking and problem solving. Incorporating technology that promotes 21st century skills is an ongoing goal for all of our students in all of our classrooms.

This project is designed for all of our students in our school.

It will be used to incorporate makerspaces in the daily curriculum as well as after school. Each day approximately 420 kindergarten through fifth grade students walk through our doors. Our student population represents the diversity found throughout our community. We have 17 different languages spoken at our school. The ethnic backgrounds, socio-economic levels, and neighborhoods in our attendance area give our students unique opportunities to experience the natural balance that comprises much of our urban County. The diversity of our families also provides many opportunities for our school community to learn about a variety of ethnic and family customs.

My Project

Creation is at the center of learning. By learning to create, all students build problem solving skills. Part of creation is the actual creation of objects which the 3D printer supports. Starting in our after-school program, students will have the opportunity to create and build. As more students learn to use this technology, it will spread to projects in many classrooms.

By supporting this project, our students will have access to a resource that is cutting edge and essential to building and creating.

It will impact many students in our school to access new ways to create.
