My Students

Technology is transforming the learning environment through access to tools that allow students to create, collaborate, and communicate. My students need the mobile technology to participate and access the larger learning environment that technology now offers.

My students come from a diverse background of economic status, languages, and cultures.

The students I work with range from kindergarten through fifth grade but with all age levels, I have seen how all students engage in more creative problem solving and collaboration when given the tools. These technology tools are not currently accessible to all students and I would like to change that.

My Project

Technology is transforming our students abilities to communicate, collaborate, and create which are all essential 21st century skills. With a limited budget, our school goal is to create mobile technology clusters of learning centers within each classroom that could further differentiate and personalize learning opportunities for students, create additional opportunities for student engagement, and would expand the student access to a variety of learning tools and resources facilitated by the teacher. By acquiring more mobile devices per classroom, we would be working to level the playing field for all of our students by providing additional enriching learning opportunities that would better connect with the diverse learning needs of our K-5 students and would help our school to close the achievement gap between white and minority students and between students of poverty and students not in poverty, which are the ultimate goals of this project.

With more mobile devices, we will continue to expand differentiation for all students through: 1.

Student-created videos focusing on key concepts in science, math, and social studies. 2. Incorporating video and interactive resources that support specific content area learning. 3. Mobile access to the Internet to research and create learning resources. 4. Apps to practice and multiple and varied exposures to fundamental skills and concepts in all content areas.
