Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
They are a highly diverse group of kids with special needs. They range from physical impairments to down-syndrome, to autism, and some have multiple impairments. Our campus is ethnically diverse and an economically disadvantaged campus, but we strive harder than most.
My students are extraordinary in their own way and while their growth is sometimes slow, it is mighty!
My students have more limitations than most, but expectations that keep them moving to their highest capabilities. My students are some of the hardest workers I know.
My Project
My students require specialized instruction for all learning. Because each of my students are unique, all of them needs individualized instruction. I am currently trying to find ways to teach money to my students. Each student is on a different level. Some students make be learning the difference between spending and saving, while some students are still learning to match or identify coins.
For my students to learn, they must be engaged.
I have to use highly motivating and attention grabbing materials to reach my students. With an iPad, the options are limitless. I can find apps that on each of my students’ levels and I can find those that are sensory engaging for each individual student.
