My Students

I work with the most amazing students each and every day! My Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students learn to sing, play, chant, and move in music. In 3rd grade, students begin to apply their knowledge to compose, create and improvise in music. We use a variety of instruments and technology to compose in music class.

We have no technology in our classroom, except for what I have received through grants.

It's my desire to build a small Mac lab for my students. I want to extend the curriculum with technology so that my 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students can continue to learn, compose, and create in more challenging ways. Helping my students to understand how music impacts them on a daily basis through composition is a fabulous way to engage, inspire, and connect with my students.

My Project

My students compose routinely in music class. From composing music in the style of the Carnival of the Animals, to The Blues, to Songwriting, and real-life applications of creating music for commercials and video games, my students are creating music regularly! We use our iPads to create, but the final project is often so large that it has to be completed on my personal laptop which means I do the final edits.

I know from my students' feedback that they want to do the work on their own.

They want to see their project to completion! We need an iMac as it is compatible with our iPads and would have iMovie and GarageBand on it. Please help our vision come to reality!
