My students are innovative, creative, and imaginative thinkers who come from a low income area in Florida.
These elementary students have a desire to learn everything they can about the natural world, and I hope to give them the chance to do that. They love to build, make, and invent. With your help, we can expose these students to age-appropriate tools that will expose them to complex concepts in science, like coding. It is my hope that through this project, my students, especially those who are under-represented in the STEM fields, can find their passion for coding and translate that into a future career.
My Project
This iPad will make all the difference in the world for my students. Currently, our school does not have technology that is compatible with apps for Ozobots and Dash and Dot bots, thus making learning to code very difficult for my students. Currently, my students are doing what they can to code without the technology they need, but we need to allow these students to extend their knowledge. I know this iPad will be a welcome addition to the Makerspace and STEAM classrooms and my students will be delighted to know they can use it to learn more about coding.
Coding is the language of the future, and without this iPad, the students are only learning the very basics which is putting them at a disadvantage for their futures.
By donating to this project, you can donate to the futures of hundreds of students over the years who do not have access to this type of technology otherwise. My goal is to encourage and foster creativity and higher-order thinking, and I know I can do that simply by giving my students the right tools.
This iPad will open many doos for my students, and I am looking forward to seeing just how far they will go in their lives.
