My Project

The students in my Title I school know what it means to work hard, set and achieve goals, and face challenging obstacles. As part of our school mission, we strive to give back to our community and pledge to be kind to one another, as we recite our school mission statement. We help one another and support each other's efforts.

The greatest gift we can give ourselves and our community is to become the vehicle of change we hope to see in the lives of those we love and care for.

Keeping with this school-wide focus, we have a small group of 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students who work together each week as part of our Student Equity Team. They raise awareness about causes that are important to the well-being of our school, the surrounding community, and the world beyond. They host food drives, coat drives, and toy drives. They are friendly and caring and love to put their best foot forward with a huge smile on top. They represent the best of what our students have to offer one another and their community.

One of their more recent endeavors is the weekly pop-up Coffee and EQUITea Stand that they run in the main lobby of the school. They learn important life and service industry skills as they prepare and serve coffee, tea, and snacks to their teachers, counselors, and parent volunteers. They need a raised ice cooler to store ice and prepare cooled beverages for their school community and peers. While they sip their beverages, they can discuss how to best assist those in the community who are facing food insecurity.
