My students are such a joy to teach. They come into class every morning so excited to get started. They feel like big kids getting to come to school and grow their brains. With attitudes like theirs, it makes teaching them the most rewarding job in the world!
Although our money for school supplies is limited, our potential is not.
We are determined to provide for our kids the best possible education we can, and sometimes that means calling on others to help out. We would all be eternally grateful for any donations!
This year, our school has adopted the Pick a Better Snack program to encourage students to make healthier choices. Twice a month, we expose students to a new fruit or vegetable and discuss how they can incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their diets at home and in their lunches they bring to school. In addition to these lessons, we have allowed students to bring water bottles to school to help them stay hydrated through the day and eliminate trips to the water fountain. These frequent visits to the water fountain were interrupting learning and also contributing to the spread of germs. Since the majority of U.S. students are chronically dehydrated, we feel strongly about the idea of making water more desirable to our youngest learners! Ice can do just that!
To help promote the consumption of water over other sugary beverages, we would like to provide ice for their water bottles.
The ice maker we are requesting would allow all students to have cold, refreshing water - especially after rigorous physical activity and recess. They would also be able to select water instead of chocolate milk and juices at lunch. This will promote healthy living at a young age.
