Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with a wonderful group of students in a self- contained setting. We work on developing social skills and daily living skills to support independence when they graduate high school. I feel so fortunate to teach and work with these students who are eager to learn and develop the skills needed to be successful
Unfortunately over the summer, our class refrigerator broke down and is beyond repair.
We are hoping to replace it because it is essential for our program. The students in my class have significant needs with dietary restrictions. I have a student who is on a liquid only diet and requires nutritional shakes every 2 hours. Without a working refrigerator, it is difficult to keep his shakes cool. I also have students with food allergies that can not have cross contamination that can occur if we use a community fridge at the school. We also do a lot of cooking projects to support learning life skills.
Please consider donating to my projecting and spreading the word. We greatly appreciate anything to support our fantastic group of students.
