This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I think I can, I think I can," said the Little Engine that Could and so could my wonderful group of first grade English language learner students with technology at the touch of a finger.

My class consists of 17 students, 11 of whom are English language learners.

They are inquisitive little minds that show a passion for learning the English language. Our school population is mostly made up of low socioeconomic students. Many of them speak Spanish as their native language and do not have access to technology at home.

My Project

With the iPad I plan to incorporate a center that will empower my students to learn through the use of technology. My students will be able to acquire the English language while expanding their vocabulary through different interactive game apps. The iPad will also provide a great opportunity to create a differentiated learning environment.

An added tool of technology will engage my students in the process of learning.

The thought of using an iPad in the classroom will create an atmosphere that fosters participation and higher order thinking. Technology finds a way to connect thoughts to visuals and sounds. This is a fantastic way for all of my students to build and expand on their knowledge.
