My Students

Like classrooms across the nation, our time together in our classroom came to an end abruptly and way too soon. I had so many learning activities to engage my students in, I had so many books to read to them, I had so many more hugs to give, but our time ended without warning all too quickly. Over the past several weeks my students and I have worked together to foster an online/digital learning environment. The focus for me has been to make sure my students feel safe (we also endured an earthquake with over 1000 aftershocks), connected, loved, and successful.

My Project

This school year I have read a picture book to my students every single day. Some teach lessons like friendship, being yourself, thinking positively, or the power of hard work and determination. Some books teach about our curriculum: civil rights, the Revolutionary War, characteristics of polygons, or idioms. Some allow us to get into deep discussion while others are just fun. Classroom-Book-A-Day is one of the many things I am missing right now. I had so many more books for our classroom family to share, discuss, and explore together.

There are so many things I wish for "my kids"; I Wish You More is exactly the message I want to share with them on the last day of school.

I want to write a letter inside each child's book just for them. I want to tell them the things I love most about them and the things I wish for them. Of course, I will read this book to my students on the last day of school (with tear-filled eyes) on a YouTube video, but being able to deliver them their own copy would be ideal.
