I teach a very diverse group of 6th grade students. I have students who are reading at a 12th grade level as well as students reading on a first grade level. I teach in Utah so our class numbers tend to be high (always near 30), especially in the upper elementary grades. The population of the school I teach at is 46% Hispanic. The school qualifies as a Title I school, but does not receive funding as other schools in the area have greater need. The school is an older school; however, teachers, administration, and community have teamed up to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. In my classroom we work hard and play hard. We support each other, help each other learn, and become a family.
