My Students
I have an amazing group of students and most have a great desire to learn. Unfortunately, my students face some significant challenges. I teach special education in a small school with limited resources. This grant targets my students with Autism and behavior-related disabilities to help them calm down before outbursts or explosions occur.
My students have challenges ranging from Learning Disabilities to Autism.
Despite the challenges, we face we are determined to build on student strengths to find success in each of their educations. Our unique challenges make us stronger.
My Project
Tiny screens on little Chromebooks have become the way students interact with technology in our schools. While most students adapt well and can make it work, there are some students with special needs that need a little bit more. It is amazing to see the difference it makes when I hook up the computer to a little bit bigger monitor for someone that struggles with vision issues. I would love to see the amazing and unexpected outcomes when we can expand their experience on a wide-screen monitor.
Help us expand the vision of our special needs students.
While there are many ways in which had a larger monitor can help students there is one that will be extremely beneficial. When students are given a writing task they are often using reference materials found on different tabs. For students with attention and focus issues, a large amount of information is lost in the time that they switch from one tab to another. With a large widescreen monitor, the information can easily be accesses side by side which will make it so much easier for students with attention issues.
Please help us explore the possibilities that this additional tool could have on our students.
