Our TK-6th grade school is the newest elementary school in our district. So new, in fact, that it was still under construction when we opened in July of 2017 with 750 students! Our families are middle class and very culturally/ethnically diverse. Our school is located in a newer housing development and has recently started to acquire retail development. My students are an amazing group of diverse learners from a wide array of cultural backgrounds that strive to be the best they can be. Every morning, we hold morning meetings to build community, empathy, and global citizens.
I am requesting funding to cover the expenses for the Teach Your Heart Out conference in San Diego, California. This is my 17th year teaching and I'm still looking for ways to grow as an educator and provide engaging, collaborative, and critical thinking opportunities for my students. I can't wait to be inspired by many of the Teach Your Heart Out presenters and start successfully implementing their ideas and strategies in my classroom. At Teach Your Heart Out, I would love the opportunity to learn from and get new ideas from more educators to bring back to my classroom and to share with my colleagues. My students will benefit by me bringing back new and fun ideas from this training that will enhance their instruction in Language & Literacy, Math, and Social-Emotional Development.
