I Want to Read a Good Book!

My students need 52 books for the classroom library to replace the ones that were lost or ruined during the last school year.

This project is fully funded

I am a sixth grade teacher on the South Side of Chicago. I have 30 students in my classroom and I teach all subjects. My school is in a very low income neighborhood and there is a great need for supplies. I work very hard with my students to instill a love for reading. I have worked for the last six years to create an awesome classroom library for my students. There is no library in the school and the public library is to far away and the neighborhood to dangerous to walk to, so the books they read, they get from me. As I was cleaning out and organizing my library this summer, I noticed that I was missing quite a few books. The more I looked the more I realized it was the most popular books that were gone. I can't be upset that my former students "kept" the books they enjoyed but now I would like to replace them for my incoming class. I want my new kids to get as much enjoyment from these books as my previous class did. Success in school and success in life depends on the ability to read. Students should have the opportunity to learn and practice with books they truly enjoy! Please help me to reach this goal, so my students now and in the future will develop a love for reading!
