Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach on the south side of a large city in Illinois to primarily African-American and Latino students. The majority of my students live in a neighborhood where they see violence and my classroom is their safe haven. The school has turned around in the past few years and scores have improved dramatically. The students feel the warmth from the staff, and you can tell they love to come to school to learn. My students are engaged in learning and the arts! They will appreciate the help.

My Project

I am requesting a Bluetooth speaker and headphones for my preschool students. My preschool students love movement and are auditory learners. When they hear a beat or a song, they immediately move and have the urge to dance around the classroom. We are in the process of going into our exercise study and using the Bluetooth speaker will support our movement through different songs and activities. The headphones will support our visual learners and auditory learners so they can connect with books through the iPad.

The donations will support children's language learning, physical movement, and support how their body connects with their mind.
