My Students

I am currently a School Counselor for two schools. I like to think of all of the more than 1400 students as "mine"! I impact these student's lives directly and indirectly through teaching, counseling, attendance, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavior Support Systems, 504s, State testing, Red Ribbon Week, Career Day as well as car duty and cafeteria duty.

My students deserve the best that I can offer!

The larger of my schools focuses on Ron Clark's "Essential 55" rules that include saying "Yes, Maám and No, Sir", making eye contact, showing respect and random acts of kindness to name a few. The students are friendly and hard working.

The smaller of the two schools is an International Baccalaureate World School. The students are taught to be empathetic, tolerant, and respectful global thinkers who show curiosity and courage.

It is an absolute joy to work with the students at both of these schools.

My Project

I plan to develop a unit on Self-Regulation for my third graders. This unit will give the tools the students need to navigate their way through their emotions and life. Using resources such as "Self-Regulation Interventions and Strategies" by Tersa Garland, I will teach, assess, reflect and teach again to ensure that my students will learn the material and how to apply it. This unit will be the focus of my entry for Component Three of the National Board certification.

Working through the National Board certification process will ensure that I will strive to reach my fullest potential.
