This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students have many learning as well as physical disabilities. Our children are all non-verbal and low functioning autistic students. Our children are highly active and need 1:2 ratio for learning and safe supervision.

They each have their own distinct and unique gifts and abilities that make it both a joy and a challenge to unlock.

They are loving and caring students that will surprise you daily with their odd sense of humor and contagious love and laughter. Our goal is to increase their developmental learning through play.

My Project

The students have recently shown a huge interest in music. We have been reading about many instruments including the piano, drums and other pieces of the orchestra. Our students enjoy playing IPAD apps that use these instruments. Having live instruments inside our classroom will serve to enhance their musical talents. The piano has been probably the most sought out by the children. Two of our children take piano lessons and we hope to encourage the others as well.

The piano will make a difference for our children who are very exploratory and find interest in many things in different ways.

Our goal is to continue to increase their developmental learning through music, visually as well as hands-on. Having ready access to instruments inside the classroom will help build their skills without sensory overload.
