This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Writing - do you take it for granted? How, when, where, and why did you first write? Writing is an important and essential skill for success in our fast-paced society today. If students cannot write how can we expect them to have success in future jobs?
I teach second grade in the largest school district in the state.
I teach underprivileged students. In my classroom, I also teach students who are just starting to acquire English. In addition, I teach special education children in my classroom. Children are children and teaching them just requires a variety of approaches. Writing is writing and requires thought, planning, and encouragement. I offer all of this to my children but sometimes it just isn't enough.
My Project
The ticket to my students' success lies in a writing area that is intended for their use and only their use. My students often complain that other students are using their ideas, or they can't work around another student, or other students are making too much noise. I believe that with the writing center all of this will be a thing of the past. My students will be empowered to write, write, write! I can only imagine right now what will be the pinnacle of their writing and look forward to the day when all writing success is realized! More over, my students will recognize THEIR pinnacle of success and have pride in their written word and their published writings.
