This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a new media specialist in Broward County. My students walk into our media center every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. We are a Title I school where more than three-quarters of our students are from low-income households.

My students are highly innovative with a desire to learn and explore.

Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. My particular students are inquisitive and love to learn, and they are embracing technology and working hard to learn skills many of adults are still learning.

My Project

With the addition of iPads into our media center, my students will be able to access apps that reinforce skills and enable higher level learning. An iPad helps students who are kinesthetic and visual learners open up the doors of education and individualize their learning experiences. The iPads will become a tool that will help create more authentic learning experiences in the classroom as well as build twenty first century skills that our children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technical world. Students will be able to work in centers with the iPads, writing, reading, learning phonemic awareness skills, mathematical skills and concepts and more. They will be able to create both independent and collaborative projects in order to show true understanding of concepts.

With the addition of iPads to the media center, all students will be able to practice 21st century skills.

I believe that they should not be held back because of lack of funds, but deserve to explore and learn on the same level as students who have this access. All students will be able to access learning through technology on a daily basis - amazing!
