My Project

One of the things I love most about my school is how diverse our population is! Over the past few years, we, myself included, have become very conscious of teaching our kids about different cultures. Teaching at a multicultural diverse school, I do not want it to be normal for my students to pick up a book out of our library and it most likely have only white characters. I want all of the cultures in my classroom to be celebrated, and one of the simplest ways to ensure that is by making sure they are adequately represented in the literature I expose them to at school. Through these books, students will gain more schema about other cultures that they can apply to all areas of learning and be able to connect with each other on a social emotional learning level.
