I See Myself in These Books!

Help me give my students books that they can see themselves, their families, and their cultures reflected in.

My Project

When I was a little girl, I LOVED to read. However, back then, I saw few, if any, characters who looked like me in the books I read. As an educator, I want my students to have that same love of reading. But, unlike with my childhood experience, I want them to be able to see "themselves" when they open a book.

These books will help us to celebrate the beautiful diversity represented in our classroom community, as they reinforce the message I try to impart to all of my students, "You Matter." I always strive to make sure that my students see themselves, their cultures, and their community reflected in our classroom, and adding these books to our classroom library will definitely help with that.
