I See Myself Here, Play

Help me give my students imaginative play with dolls that represent our student population

My Project

Students deserve to see themselves represented in their play, and we aim to create an environment where they can explore and engage in imaginative play that mirrors the diversity and uniqueness of our school community.

To achieve this, I am requesting funds to purchase a dollhouse, van and a set of culturally diverse male and female dolls.

These dolls have been carefully selected to reflect not just the physical characteristics of our students but also their identities and experiences. This will include dolls with a range of skin tones, hair textures, and body types, as well as dolls who wear hearing aids. Representation is so important, especially when it comes to students with hearing impairments, so they can see themselves in everyday play scenarios.

This project will provide students a chance to experience the magic of play while promoting empathy and a sense of belonging, teaching important social-emotional skills and celebrating diversity and inclusion.

I am confident that this resource will inspire all of my students and encourage them to see the beauty of their individuality and that of others. Thank you for considering this donation to help create a truly inclusive play and learning environment for our students.
