My Project
I am a fifth grade teacher who works in a predominately Asian-American populated school. Students are often from first generation immigrant families who have moved here in search of a better future for their children. These books will help me to continue to build and foster a culturally responsive classroom.
I want my students to be able to see a reflection of themselves in my classroom library. Students should be surrounded by literature that gives them a mirror into their own lives. When a child is able to relate to a book, they become inspired to read. The more they are inspired, the more their love of reading will grow!
