This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is important for students to see themselves represented in their world and in their classrooms. I am requesting these reading materials that highlight Latino cultures. These books will be used in conjunction to reading units to teach literacy standards such as theme, character development, and summarizing.
My hope is that one of these picture books becomes a treasured memory for students.
Where they are not only able to see the beauty of culture and diversity of people, but where they learned foundational literacy skills they will carry with them for the rest of their academic career.
