My Students

My 6th grade students are curious, energetic, and super excited for middle school! After a year and a half of hybrid and remote learning, they are transitioning to a brand new school, fully in-person and ready to learn. I have yet to meet them, but I know they will be full of enthusiasm.

MS 51 students commute to school from all over District 15, a large and diverse district in Brooklyn, which includes: Sunset Park, Park Slope, Kensington, Boerum Hill, Borough Park, and more.

My Project

After almost two years of remote and hybrid learning, students are finally returning to school in full swing! While I am super excited to welcome them back, I am wary of how limited our classroom resources will be, especially after so much time spent teaching only a third of the class in person. Students will no longer have one-to-one laptops, and teachers will be sharing a couple of laptop carts.

I design my lessons to be interactive and accessible to all.

My approach includes group work, multimedia projects, inquiry-based experiments, and collaborative science investigations. However, with no technology in the classroom it is hard to access primary sources, science research, and simulations that are critical for STEM learning. With 6 new laptops, we can create stations where students can access various physics simulations and create digital research projects that can be easily shared and presented to the wider-school community.

I will be teaching in an ICT setting, where many of my students need extra support and differentiated approaches to learning. Additionally, our school has a growing population of ELL students, who can use laptops for automatic translation and lexile level adjustments. There are endless possibilities and benefits to having computers easily accessible in our science classroom!
