My Students

I teach a wonderful group of high school students in the special education setting. All of my students are very energetic, enjoy learning new material, and love doing activities that require hands-on learning.

The main focus for students in my classroom is learning life skills.

My students are truly the most caring individuals that you will ever meet. They appreciate everything and everyone.

Our school funding is limited and extra supplies and materials often come from the pockets of the teachers. This makes it difficult to provide everything that is needed in the classroom. We have a great and caring staff that works hard to make sure all of our students have what they need to succeed.

My Project

This project will provide my students with ice cream makers to use during life skills instruction. All of my students receive special education services. Their daily instruction focuses on a life skills curriculum. They currently run a weekly coffee cart to make and sell coffee to staff members at the school. Having ice cream makers, could help expand their school business.

This project would make learning fun for all of my students.

Students will be able to take ice cream orders from staff members and work on fulfilling the orders. They will find recipes to make with the ice cream makers. Then, they will work on reading skills by searching for and reading the recipes to make the ice cream. They will use communication skills to take and deliver the orders. They will also use math skills to make correct change to customers.

This project will provide my students with the materials needed to increase their life skills curriculum. It will also help them to expand their school business by being able to offer more items on the menu.
