I Really Want to Find the Answers!

My students need technology in the classroom for our many diverse learners. Many students need to research topics they are working on and other students can use these Chromebooks for listening and learning.

My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics.

Our school is fully inclusive.

Inclusion in education is an approach to educating students with special educational needs.

Under the inclusion model, students with special needs spend most or all of their time with non-special needs students. Inclusion rejects the use of special schools or classrooms to separate students with disabilities from students without disabilities.

Implementation of these practices varies. Schools most frequently use the inclusion model for selected students with mild to moderate special needs.

Inclusive education differs from the 'integration' or 'mainstreaming' model of education, which tended to be concerned principally with disability and special educational needs, and learners changing or becoming 'ready for' or deserving of accommodation by the mainstream. By contrast, inclusion is about the child's right to participate and the school's duty to accept the child.

My Project

I have a large group of diverse learners. One-third of my class are high achievers and are currently doing some research and are trying creating reports on their subjects, however, the technology in our school is very limited.

Chromebooks offer more to schools and students than access to online resources.

They help engage students with interactive lessons and prepare them for an increasingly digital workforce. Given the combination of high performance, low cost and the development of custom web applications, it should not be a surprise that Chromebooks are quickly becoming the device of choice for school districts across North America.

In today’s age, computer literacy is an integral component of any student’s learning plan. By providing students with access to the greatest learning tool ever invented--the internet--they gain unprecedented access to resources and information. As Chromebooks surpass iPads and other devices as schools’ choice for 1:1 programs, the applications and platforms available for Chromebooks further augment their contribution to personalized learning.

I also have students that are listening to books on audio and are beginning to read and write and there are so many resources on the internet that are useful to aid these students in their learning.
