I Really Don't Have Eyes in the Back of My Head

My students need a projection camera and cart so they are better able to follow along as I am modeling a writing assignment and/or pointing out items in their texts

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Can you remember what you did when your teacher had his/her back turned as he/she was writing on the board? I can. I also know what some of my students do. They are not fully paying attention. Some of them really think I have eyes in the back of my head.

I teach at a wonderful school that is full of great students.

We are a Title I school. We have a high percentage of students who are on the free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch program. My students are at various levels academically. They get excited when I introduce new skills, materials, and supplies. They enjoy coming to the front of the class and showing what they know and/or learned.

My Project

I am requesting a projection camera, presentation cart, and an extension cord. The projection camera will allow me to model a writing assignment while facing the students. I will also be able to point out items in texts that I want the students to focus on. With my back turned I am not completely sure if they are focusing and really able to see what I am writing. Also, just holding up the text is too small for them to see. By using the projection camera the assignment will be projected onto the smart board that is centrally located that all students are able to see. The presentation cart will give me the space to place the camera next to my lap top that is currently on a cart that doesn't have room for a projection camera. The extension cord will allow me to move the carts to the perfect place to project the assignment on the board.

This project is important to me because with having 26 students in each class, I want to be able to make sure they are focusing and paying attention on what is being presented to them.
