I Once Was a Planet

My Students

We are located in Nevada, where all these children attend a Title I school. The children at our school are excited about learning everything they possibly can.

The classrooms at our school are our students' one constant in life.

At home, they either are placed in front of a TV set or ignored. The classrooms at our school provide students a step-up to a brighter future. Opening doors to the world around us is a necessity for these students to be successful.

My Project

In the last few weeks of the school year, we always learn about our solar system. This year my students were wondering about Pluto and how it went from being a planet to a dwarf planet.

My students wanted to learn more about the planet who became a dwarf planet.

They wanted to understand what led to the change. The books that have been chosen are interesting and fun books that explain through words and pictures of how Pluto went from being a planet to becoming a dwarf planet. These books will also provide information about other dwarf planets in our solar system as well as the 8 planets in the our solar system,
