My Students
Do you remember being in first grade and learning to read your first book? For my first grader being able to read a simple word is exciting for them. Help my students be fluent in their phonics and sight words.
The students in my classroom look forward to coming to school and learning new and exciting things every day.
For a lot of students in the classroom, I am the one thing they know they will see on a day to day basis and that I am a constant fixture in their lives. My students come from families that don't know where their next meal might be, they may be living with a family member or they are taking care of siblings while their parents work the third shift. Many of my students come from households that speak a language other than English and tend a Title I school where the budget gets cut more and more affecting the education they are receiving.
My Project
The biggest crutch that teachers deal with on a daily basis is behavior. Behavior is not just about being a bad kid, many students come from homes that have emotional or physical abuse, many come from one-parent homes, or homes where they watch over their siblings because a parent has to work. In today's classroom, we not only have to be the teacher but the parent, the therapist, the support that the child may not have.
That is why I would love for my classroom to have space in my classroom to have a quiet minute.
That is why I am asking for items that we help a student calm down and get ready to learn again.
The items that I am requesting are Tilt & Turn Liquid Sensory Windows, students will tilt and turn our liquid-filled sensory windows to guide balls into horseshoes…around pegs…or through the wave maze. The Hoberman Sphere will allow students to keep their minds occupied and calm down. The Fidget Monster will allow a student to fidget by captivating their attention with its roll and click eyeballs, spinning tentacle, sensory mohawk and so much more. Finally, I am requesting Play & Learn Sensory Tubes, will allow a student to just relax and watch the materials in the tubes float up and down.
Please help me meet my students not only on an academic level but also at a mental aspect.
