This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"I need something to read." This is a phrase that I hear much to often in my classroom. The school that I teach in is an inner city school with a high population of low income students. Yet despite their home situations the students come in every morning with a desire to learn something new.
Reading is a major part of instruction in my classroom. The books that I have requested will be placed in our classroom library for the students to read daily during a forty-five minute reading block. After the students have completed reading the books they will have an opportunity to take a test on the computer. The test consists of basic comprehension questions from the book the student read.
Having a supply of books available for the students to read will greatly enhance learning in my classroom as well as assist the students in increasing their fluency level. Thank for your investment in my students' lives. This will assist me greatly in encouraging them to read and to develop a love and appreciation for reading.
