Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember ever going to the library to get some important research done but all the computers were taken? Well this is a constant issue in my class. Scholars are constantly given topics to research, but we lack the resources needed for them to complete that particular task.

I have 28 inquiring minds in my third grade class that is stationed in the Bronx in a high poverty area.

Materials are quite scarce in our building and therefore, most materials that I need, I have to purchase myself or write a grant to receive them. It is very frustrating that I have to end up spending so much of my own money to be effective in my room.

My Project

Wow, with these Chrome Books in my room, more of my scholars will be able to do and complete any given research that is given at that particular time. Since my scholars are hard workers, they will still probably want to come upstairs during their lunch time or prep time to continue, not start, their work. My scholars will also be able to complete end products using their research notes. Some end products might be powerpoint presentation, newsletters, persuasive commercials, etc. With this equipment in my room, my scholars will also be able to do any suggested learning activities that meets them at their learning level but challenge them just enough not to get frustrated.

Getting the Chrome Books funded is important to my scholars and I myself because it will make life easier.

When scholars are doing research and have run out of hard copies, they can get on the laptop without having to wait to complete the task. Group work will also become more doable. While I work with a group of scholars, another group can be doing independent work while another group is completing a learning activity online. Every 20 minutes, groups will rotate doing activities that fits their needs.
