This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Most of my students live in a low socio-economic environment. Many of them speak English as a second language. All of them enjoy coming to school. I have many young students who turn 5 during the school year that they are with me. They are growing not only their minds but their bodies as well. Along with growing bodies, comes lots of falling as everyone is trying to figure out how to move with their ever growing bodies while playing at the same time. Many of my students run and jump all while looking backward at their friend who is behind them and as a result, they fall a lot! We spend so much time taking children up to the office to get ice.
With this portable ice maker, I could make ice in the classroom which would allow us to get ice faster for the children and would keep more supervision on the play yard as we wouldn't be needing to escort kiddos up to the office for ice.
The little bags will be great for the ice and we always need Band-Aids! When ice is needed, a Band-Aid is usually needed as well.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
