My Project
Our school is predominately African American and the materials in the classroom need to reflect that. A lot of our books and toys are outdated and do not represent our students or modern times.
We need books that the students can see themselves in to make connections and know they matter. Some of these books are generic books about families with positive African American characters. Other books are specific to African American culture and will make the students feel seen and proud. The social emotional cards will help the students identify their feelings and will help the students connect better to the feeling cards.
