My classroom is made of an outstanding group of 5th graders. These students come to school excited to learn and ready to change the world! In our building we believe that relationships are the foundation to learning. Because of our beliefs, students are allowed voices and choices every day, in and out of the classroom.
My students love learning and have a desire to change the world!
My students are empowered to make choices about their learning daily in my classroom and throughout our school. Students know that they are the center of our learning environment and that they get to choose how they learn.
In our building, we have about five hundred students from diverse backgrounds. Our building has a rate of 60% of students qualifying for free and reduced-priced lunch. Many of these students are unable to come to school with the supplies needed to learn.
Students in my classroom are encouraged to have a voice and make their ideas become a reality. My students have expressed a need to have more options in math and science. Their voices are being heard and now we want to make some action happen.
My Project
My students are constantly asking me to find different ways of providing flexible seating in our classroom. I would love to add these high top tables and stools to my classroom to give them that choice. Students need to feel comfortable in their seating in order to work to their fullest potential. Flexible seating is a great way to support students with ADHD as well as my special needs learners.
Students deserve to work where they want and to sit in any area that makes them feel the most comfortable in the classroom.
This project is so important for my diverse learners who struggle with focus and need to wiggle while they work. Now we will be able to spread out and still work effectively with the right tools in place.
