Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

...but i HATE my students' dull and broken pencils! I teach 4th grade in an inner city charter school.

Each summer I buy a few hundred pencils and 3-4 pencil sharpeners. The pencils must be super powered because they seem to EAT the sharpeners!

What we really need is a high quality sharpener that will last longer than the pencils and longer than one school year. At the moment, I sharpen every single pencil myself because our current little sharpener jams on a regular basis. If I get this industrial sharpener, the kids should be able to sharpen their own pencils in the mornings, increasing responsibility for their own learning and saving me precious planning time.

Because the students can sharpen 3 of their own pencils each morning, I will no longer have to stop instruction time to do it when one breaks. Over the course of the year, this will save many hours of instruction for the class. Please help!
