Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from almost all low income and mostly Hispanic area. These students do not have access to many things that other students have, such as technology or parents who speak English. Many of these students do not have the help at home, that they need. Many of them are struggling students, with struggling parents at home.
Most of our students come from single-parent households who do not speak English, some of the students being students with exceptionalities.
Our school is located in a melting pot area. We have students from all over in Miami. Many students also come from single-parent families. All of these challenges only makes it harder for students to want to succeed, but it is our job to make sure that they do!
My Project
Having alternative seating in the classroom will allow me to accommodate students who cannot sit still. Having a class with ESE students, I have noticed that they have a hard time staying still.
These wobbly chairs allow my students to move around during instruction, and focus on the task at hand.
Having these for the teacher center will allow students to not only pay further attention, but wobble as they do it. The chairs can also be used as a reward for those who would like to sit on them when they are not being used at the teacher center. This would make a great addition to our classroom.
