Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am an early childhood special education inclusion teacher in a Pre-Kindergarten classroom at an elementary school. My students with disabilities are fully included into the general education classroom and curriculum.

Those who teach in an inner-city school understand that it is very common not to have a grassy area on campus for children to run and play safely. I am constantly trying to think of ways to create and provide access to gross motor activities in a fun and safe way. Because our play ground is taken up with mostly asphalt for the bike path, I have to create defined spaces for other activities.

I try to set up stations for the children to practice other skills. I would really like to have these sport goals to set up an area where the children can throw and kick the balls in a defined area without running into the bike path to retrieve their balls. The hopscotch rug will provide a great indoor game to play when we are on rainy day schedule. I want the children to be able to engage in gross motor games on the days of the year when we cannpt play outdoors.

The children love kicking the balls but without some sort of defined area, they kick them all over the place and then of course run after them (which can be dangerous). Your donations will allow us to start the year with some great equipment that will provide hours of fun each week for years to come. I appreciate your generosity and donations!
