My students need options for flexible seating as they work in our classroom. The lap desks and active stools will help them be more successful in the classroom.
Forty, eight and nine year olds walk through my classroom daily. My group of students consists of a variety of learners who come from different backgrounds. I have students who speak a variety of languages including Spanish, Vietnamese, French, and Arabic. Along with our cultural diversity, some of our students are diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, and dyslexia. These students are constantly teaching us about the movement and creativity needed in the learning process. As a life long learner, I am constantly looking for way to engage and support the diversity in my classroom.
My Project
"I like to move it, move it." People of all ages have a hard time sitting still. The lap desks and active stools will give my students a variety of options as they figure out how they learn best. The lap desks will give my students the ability to sit anywhere in the classroom and have a hard surface to write on. The active stools will help my students work at a desk, but still be able to wiggle as they complete their assignments. The flexible seating gives the classroom a whole new look. My students will be able to make a choice of where they would like to sit while they work in the classroom. It is out with the traditional desks and in with the new and improved classroom filled with choice. Help me create a classroom of choice and change the way my students think of school.
