Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Upon graduating from high school, my students must be able to gain meaningful employment. They must also be able to use the finances earned from their work to provide for themselves and the families they'll create. It’s not uncommon for people who haven’t had enough money, when they begin to make money, to engage in buying and spending without thinking about the future. Students who struggle financially will often have a distorted view of how to use the money they earn.

Teens who lack understanding about saving and investing for the future become adults that spend everything they make and don’t know why life is hard for them.

The lessons in Rich Dad Poor Dad for Teens: The Secrets About Money That You Don’t Learn in School will help my students learn that money is not just for the moment, but it can be used to create a lifestyle that provides for their future.

The students I serve are a joyful mix of high school seniors who run the gamut from full-blown intense passion and courage to mild-mannered steadiness and ambivalence. What they have in common is their swiftly approaching transition from students earning grades to employees earning wages.

Some of my students are already working on jobs. My goal is to try and prevent all of my students from developing destructive money habits by providing them with information on how to understand and relate effectively to money. These books are a gateway to better financial literacy for them. They know that when it comes to money there is something missing in their education, and they are pleased when I make the lessons relevant by infusing this type of learning into the curriculum. I know they will love getting their hands on these books.
