I-Heart Math

My students need the ability to memorize their multiplication facts in a fun and exciting way! These tablets will be used for continuous multiplication practice during math centers.

My Students

I teach math and science to two blocks (approximately 40) of third grade students in Sanford, NC. This is my fourth year teaching in a Title I school; meaning that over half of the students receive free/reduced lunches. These students rely on us to give them the structure and materials they need in order to be successful in school.

My 40 students are constantly seeking exciting ways to learn and practice mathematics!

Memorizing multiplication facts is key to a third grade student. My students are eager to get into third grade and begin learning their multiplication facts. They LOVE the transition from second to third grade math and are super excited about all of the math concepts that we learn.

My Project

My students will be able to use the Amazon Fire HD tablets to utilize multiplication websites such as Xtramath.org and Multiplication.com, in order to increase the memorization of their multiplication facts this school year.

Multiplication is the key concept practiced in third grade math and the basis for all other concepts taught.

These Amazon tablets will be used during math rotations for 10-15 minutes of daily practice per student. These websites are self graded as well as timed for student accuracy. Newer technology is needed in order for students to get the most out of technology time in the classroom.
