This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a kindergarten teacher in a general education class of 29 students. I want to provide my students with a wonderful learning environment full of hands-on experiences that encourage them to use their creative minds, while learning the curriculum and core concepts.
My school is located in a high poverty neighborhood and a lack of funding requires that teachers spend their own money to provide many of the resources for their students.
My students are enthusiastic learners who deserve the best education and materials to support their learning.
My Project
I am asking for a variety of materials including a circle time teaching easel, a magnetic pocket chart, a photographic sorting cards set, and student pointers. Often times when I am teaching my small group lessons, I need a place to model writing, or hang a pocket chart, or even chart my students' responses. This teaching easel will be a wonderful tool during small group rotations when I am not at my white board in the front of the class. It is small and portable so that I can take it to my table and fold it up to store when I am not using it. The magnetic pocket chart will be wonderful during whole group lessons when I want to display word family cards, or making words, or even poems on sentence strips. Classroom teachers are always looking for ways to use the space in our classroom to maximize instruction. The materials in this project will help me do just that.
Whether it be the lack of funding, budget cuts, or the increase of class size, public school teachers face many challenges.
I want to continue to provide my students with a wonderful classroom environment and exciting learning opportunities, and I appreciate your support. Thank you so much for your generosity and partnership. Every donation gets us one step closer to a wish list of wonderful materials!
