I am a resource teacher in Illinois that provides support to students K-5. All of my students struggle in one or more of the following areas: reading, writing, and math. My students struggle to keep up within their general education classroom. Rather than fall behind, students come to me throughout the week in 30 minute intervals for support.
When students are in my room, I teach the foundation skills they lack and require to be successful in their general education classroom.
My students are aware of their deficits and needs. This causes them to be highly motivated to keep up with their peers. They always put forth their best effort to decrease the discrepancy between them and their friends.
My Project
I currently have NO tables in my classroom! I have multiple computer desks pushed together in order to provide small group instruction. These computer desks have wheels on the bottom and are constantly MOVING. This is a huge DISTRACTION to students. The desks additionally have holes in the middle for computer cords. Students are constantly dropping pencils and materials through the holes which DISTRACTS them from the lesson.
Please help provide my students with the necessary materials they need to learn literacy and numeracy skills without distractions.
These kidney tables would foster group discussion by providing students with the ability to write on the table. They also would assist in increasing the lesson effectiveness by removing distractions. In addition, having two tables would allow me to split students into groups and differentiate instruction. Thank you in advance for your generosity and your willingness to increase student learning.
