This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located a few miles from the California-Mexico border with 100% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. We are a class of first and second grade students who are anxious and happy to learn. With the curriculum becoming more rigorous, especially in reading and math, we want to be able to experience the learning firsthand and be focused. Our class is an active bunch of students who are highly engaged and ready to dive into learning.
My Project
These materials will help my students' learning as they venture through these virtual worlds practicing their addition, subtraction, and multiplication. We were generously gifted 5 sets of Osmos along with some other games through another DonorsChoose project last school year and the students love using the Osmos! They love being able to manipulate the pieces in front of them and have it come to life on their iPad screen.
Osmo has really given the term "screen time" a whole new meaning and my students are engaged and excited to hone in practicing their math skills.
