Help me give my students Tools to support their social emotional needs. The items in the cart are all materials that can be used to support the Social Emotional Goal which is mental wholeness and self management.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the great pleasure to work with amazing students that all have one thing in common the support of social emotional goals to help them with their future success in school and beyond one day. The students usually need support with friendship skills, anger management, feelings, crisis, and trauma.
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the community where my school is located in such a way that it is evident that my student's social-emotional learning has been impacted as they say goodbye to parent(s), grandparent(s), aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings and friends.
The pandemic has ravished through my school community and I am compelled to do all I can to support my students as they process their feelings appropriately.
As a school social worker, I have seen my students despite their disabilities, excel with support. They are resilient no matter what they have gone through and or what they will face in the future. They usually come from a low-economic background.
My Project
I want to create a Social-Emotional Learning Center. The first in my school for my students that are special needs as identified by their IEP. All of the material on my wish list will be used to help students identify their feelings and respond in an appropriate manner. Secondly, the material will be used as a tool to help students self-manage and their emotions and behavior in the midst of adversities.
Thirdly students will use the tools to teach responsibilities and accountability (like the allowance game) for their actions.
