Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach an amazing group of kindergarten students. They come to school each day for the love and safety they feel in our classroom. It is exciting to watch the lightbulbs turn on in their heads when they grasp a new skill. As their teacher, I want to provide them with all the resources they need to be successful in our classroom.
I am excited to use UFLI Foundations, an explicit and systematic program that teaches students the foundational skills necessary for proficient reading, in my kindergarten classroom next year.
In order to effectively implement the program, there is some groundwork that needs to be done. The materials that I am requesting will help me prepare for the new school year.
First, I plan to remove the coil binding from the UFLI manual, insert all 376 pages into sheet protectors, and put those protectors into binders to insure that my manual lasts for many years. Next, I will use the cardstock, ink, and laminating pouches for the many games and printables available on the UFLI website. Finally, my students will use the dry erase markers daily as they engage in the UFLI lessons.
I can't wait to put these requested materials to use and watch my students fly high. I hope that, by using UFLI in my classroom, my students will take the first steps to becoming life long readers!
