I Feel Safe! Meeting the Sensory Needs of Exceptional Children

Help me give my students items including 2 reversible sequin pillows, a weighted lap pad, and additional manipulatives that will meet their sensory needs so that they will be able to focus on their learning.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of learners who all have different learning styles and needs. While they are overcoming their academic and social needs, they need a variety of instructional materials that will allow them to demonstrate their knowledge of concepts taught in other ways besides paper and pencil. As a teacher, I want to be able to provide my students with new and various options. We are a close family and I have served these students for several years. My students also need items that will satisfy their sensory needs.

My Project

My students have a couple of sensory items that we currently use in the our classroom. However, there are not enough items for all students to have and use at the same time when needed.

I am requesting 2 reversible sequin pillows for students seeking a tactile outlet and a weighted lap pad for students who need deep pressure to feel safe and secure.

These items will help my students maintain their focus.

I am also seeking self-stamping letters for students who have difficulty with their handwriting, math manipulatives in the form of counters, and photo cards to help students in the area of social skills recognize and learn emotions.
